Abstract

The Dutch aircraft company of K.L.M. Airlines have introduced a method whereby engine components are heat‐treated for fatigue actually in the field of operation. This work is carried out in a specially equipped shop recently built by K.L.M. at an airport at Schipol, Amsterdam. There, components from piston and turbojet engines are stress relieved in an electrically heated Bell Type Furnace designed and manufactured by G.W.B. Furnaces Limited, Dudley, Worcs.
