Abstract

THIRTY‐FIVE months to the day after the memorandum of understanding was signed on May 17, 1965, by Mr Denis Healey and M Pierre Messmer on behalf of their respective governments to define a new programme for an advanced training and tactical support aircraft the first prototype, Jaguar E‐01, was rolled out at the Velizy‐Villacoublay factory of Breguet Aviation. Compact and purposeful in its camouflage paint scheme, the Jaguar was towed out of the hangar and M Bernard Witt, the chief test pilot of Breguet, proved its ability to roll under its own power by making a demonstration accelerate/stop up to 100 kts.
