Abstract

THE ultimate performance of aircraft electrical ice protection systems is dependent to a large degree upon the design of effective healing elements. After considerable research Dunlop developed their ‘sheared foil’ element which has proved itself superior in most respects to other elements and is used in 90 per cent of Dunlop heater applications; this type of element has proved that it is capable of operating for many thousands of aircraft flying hours without any change to the design characteristics.
