Abstract

Equipment, Programmes, Techniques and Projects. Recent accidents involving fire, and the development of new materials and test methods, have indicated a need for additional technical data as a basis for improved fire safety standards for civil transport aircraft. The laboratory studies summarized in this paper entitled Smoke and Gases Produced by Burning Aircraft Interior Materials were undertaken as part of an F.A.A. project, Hazardous Combustible Characteristics of Cabin Materials, and represent one phase of the effort to meet this need.
