Abstract

The ERM 86 C millimetric pulse weather radar is developed for cloud and precipitation observation. With a wavelength of 8mm and peak power 65kW, it presents, on a conventional PPI scope, the pattern of clouds and precipitations around the base, with a range of about 40km. In rocket launching applications, the ERM 86 C facilitates short‐term weather forecasting and allows to fix a time slot during which the operation may be carried out under optimal conditions. It covers the location and density of any atmospheric small size particles.
