The MTU RB 193–12 engines and RB 162
Abstract
THE VAK 191B was conceived as a low level, high subsonic strike aircraft. The low level operation dictated a very high wing loading to minimise ‘g’ loadings during high speed flight in turbulent conditions. As a result of this the aircraft has a very small wing, and this gives it very high take‐off and landing speeds for conventional flight. The aircraft was therefore optimised for VTOL operation.
