The Hercules 130 Story

Abstract

1979 marks the silver anniversary of the legendary Lockheed C‐130. It was in 1954 that the portly, blunt‐nosed YC‐130 prototype—its propjet engines purring away — took off at Burbank California, on its maiden flight, and landed an hour later at Edwards Air Force Base, high on the Mojave desert.
