Long Distance Twins

Abstract

AIRWORTHINESS and operational approval for extended range operations by twin engine transport aircraft in commercial service had been expected for some time to be obtained by late 1984. For this to take place, it has been necessary for the relevant authorities to be satisfied that power and systems reliability, dispatch requirements and the regulatory work had reached the advanced levels required.
