Abstract

INCORPORATING Tenmat ‘Feroform’ bushes in their construction, carbon brakes, designed and manufactured by Dunlop Aviation division at Coventry, are fitted to the Boeing 757 aircraft of Royal Brunei, Delta, Royal Air Maroc and Northwest Orient airlines, as well as being on order for Air Holland and CAAC of China. This type of brake has wide applications and makes use of expertise gained in both the civil and military fields over a number of years. Concorde and AV‐8B are two examples and in the future, carbon brakes are scheduled to be fitted to the French/Italian ATR‐72.
