Abstract

Twyford Moors Aerospace have designed an advanced Helicopter Rotor Damper Test Rig, the first of which has been delivered to the Ministry of Defence for the Royal Navy Aircraft Workshops at Perth. This, the MK II Damper Test Rig, is for dynamic testing of hydraulic and elastomeric dampers on the Chinook, Gazelle, Sea King, WESSEX, LYNX EH101 and Puma helicopters. Anticipating application of rigs of this design for the next decade, the construction is substantial and the computerised monitoring and control equipment can programme for very broad parameters of force, amplitude and velocity for current and known projected rotor system dampers.
