Abstract

THE conflicting but ever increasing demands made upon industry for improvements in quality, together with reductions in production costs, extends to aircraft manufacture. Whilst manufacturing standards in the aircraft industry are essentially very high, competition in the world market has become very intense. As a result, aircraft manufacturers are constantly seeking improvements in production techniques. A high precision optical co‐ordinate measuring system recently supplied by the L.K. Tool Company Ltd., is enabling a British aircraft manufacturer to achieve massive reductions in jig calibration times.
