Abstract

AS an appreciable time has elapsed since the HARP report in 1984, it has been thought appropriate to consider the progress made in helicopter airworthiness since that time. A recent conference at the Royal Aeronautical Society looked at the implementation of the recommendations made and at the successes and less satisfactory aspects of the UK helicopter scene. Of the fifteen recommendations, all have been addressed to some extent with safety improvements in certain areas. Research has been conducted into all the aspects of the report but some require a deal of work yet to be undertaken and benefits from the programmes undertaken will take some time to become apparent.
