Abstract

PRIOR to Lockheed's involvement in the Shuttle Processing Contract, which includes the provision of operating system and application software to support pre‐flight testing and launch operations for the Space Shuttle, all documentation was completed by support personnel using antiquated word‐processing machines. The requirements for this documentation included detailed design of user documentation generated as manual redlines by engineers for review and drawings prepared by illustrators. These activities were performed on some 200,000 pages of documentation.
