Abstract

Lucas has been awarded a contract from International Lease Finance Corp. of Los Angeles, California, the second largest leasing firm in the world, to upgrade the lower lobe cargo loading system of a fleet of DC‐10's to the current MD‐11 technology. The contract, expected to be expanded to additional options, firmly positions Lucas in the growing aircraft cargo/freight retrofit market. By utilising the technical and manufacturing expertise derived on the Boeing 747, 767 and McDonnell Douglas MD11 Cargo Handling Systems, Lucas made use of system commonality to develop a low risk, proven‐powered system specifically adapted to the DC‐10 requirements. Value of the contract is undisclosed.
