Abstract
Looks at the airline business from the point of view of independent aircraft engineers, FLS Aerospace Ltd. Examines service elements of airline operations, the costs of maintenance and engineering and the savings that can be made by outsourcing maintenance functions and component services. Suggests that independent aircraft engineers can offer airlines, which are seeking to subcontract, the expertise, flexibility and cost‐effectiveness they require.
