The current development of SR and European participation

Abstract

The SR and Z39.50 standards are currently developing in parallel. The article discusses reasons for this and some of the problems experienced by those responsible for development. There are a number of proposed amendments to SR, most of which are already included in Z39.50. One option is to fast‐track Z39.50 through ISO, so there would be just one standard. A summary of the new ONE project is presented and details of the new EFILA group are announced.
