Abstract

Whilst paint production in Europe has grown at an average annual rate of less than 5 per cent over the last decade, it is not expected to maintain even this pedestrian pace in the 1980's. This rather surprising conclusion is made in an in‐depth study of the European paint industry that has been conducted by Industrial Aids Ltd of Terminal House, 52 Grosvenor Gardens, London SW1W 0AU. We say ‘surprising’ because most people in the industry have assumed that whilst we are not exactly in a growth industry, the 5 per cent growth would have been maintained or even increased to 6–7 per cent.
