Abstract
We have — as regular readers of this page know only too well — commented before on what at times appears to be a surfeit of “recommendations”, “guidance notes” and definite legislation emanating from the Health and Safety Executive. This journal is not advocating that we turn a blind eye to the health and safety of the workers in the industry we try to serve, but rather that we are in danger of being swamped by the flow of written words pouring from the H & S Executive so that not only is little time left for reading anything else (i.e. keeping abreast of technological developments) but that things that really do affect the welfare of the paints and printing inks industries' employees might be overlooked amongst the flood of other material that is of little or no relevance.
