Abstract

Over the past decade or so, UV curing has been the ‘buzz’ phrase of the printing and packaging industries. Although it has not had the penetration forecast by some pundits the technique has been investigated in all areas of printing. In certain markets at least, it has proved extremely successful. Electron beam, despite having many of the same benefits as UV, has had very limited success in the graphic arts industries and therefore still remains something of a mystery to many people. This article will look at electron beam and discuss how the process works, what its benefits are, where it is being used and where it fits into the printing spectrum.
