Abstract

More than any other, the social sciences faculty could be in danger of turning out potted knowledge. ‘The Sociological Perspective’, the most popular second‐level course in the faculty, with its carefully integrated television, radio and course reader material, sets out to avoid this at all cost. The BBC producer for the course, Mr Ken Patton, explained that certain programmes represent ‘slowed down reality upon which the student can wreak his sociology’.
