Abstract

Multi‐pin aluminium electrolytic capacitors for mounting on printed circuit boards are now available from Sprague Electric and its distributors in the UK, Axiom and Swift‐SASCO. Designated the 705D Series, the new capacitors have a very low ESR (equivalent series resistance) and are designed for long‐life applications such as power supply filters, instrumentation and telecommunications equipment. Capacitance values range from 47 µF to 68,000 µF at 10 volts to 350 volts, can diameters being 25, 30, 35, or 40 mm. As a result of their low ESR, the new devices have superior high‐frequency characteristics, and can therefore be used to enhance the design efficiency of switched‐mode power supplies and other frequency‐dependent equipment.
