Abstract

Aspects covered in this paper include the reasons for adopting electronic document management systems (EDMS) and the benefits to be derived from using this technology. Having identified the importance of document management, the steps required to convince the main stakeholders and ‘influencers’ are described. This paper is intended to help potential users of electronic document management systems in determining the route to take in implementing a system. It highlights some important issues, many of which are often overlooked.
