Abstract

Library management systems are generally poor in analysing and reporting the data they contain. In a library context, such analyses are most easily managed in a PC operating system environment, because of the relative ease of learning and maintenance. It has been difficult up to now to transfer the data from mini/micro operating system environments to PC environments. Monarch is a PC application designed to manage this in a controlled and predictable way. Experience so far suggests that this is a stable software, with dependable core functionality, which should be adaptable for many library applications.
