Abstract

The paper describes a microcomputer system, recently installed in Coventry (Lanchester) Polytechnic Library, consisting of two Apple II microcomputers connected to a 20 megabyte Corvus hard disc via an Omninet network, with back‐up copies of files made on videotape. Main applications centre on the use of a database management system (The Data Machine) for the creation of inhouse databases covering periodicals holdings (3500 records), videotapes (2500 records), and reading lists (7500 records).
