Abstract

The Stevenage distribution centre of British Insulated Callender Cables found its internal telephone system not only slow and inconvenient in use but, worst of all, unreliable. In choosing a new communication system reliability was the important fact, for a large distribution centre can only run smoothly if there is efficient internal transfer of information.
