Abstract

CENTRALIZED systems of lubrication for rolling mills have been in use in this country for some years, but there are still many mills that have not changed over from out‐of‐date lubricating systems to these modern methods. In many cases roll neck bearing design on old plant has proved too difficult to adapt to modern lubrication systems, but there are numerous instances where the change should and could be made in order to obtain increased production of steel per life of roll, to reduce breakdowns, and in general, to increase production efficiency.
