Abstract

IN previous articles gear lubricants have been discussed and in the last part, we illustrated an described many different types of gear teeth wear. In order to familiarize the reader with typical examples of gear failures, we reproduce here unretouched photographs of actual gears where excessive wear or disintegration has occurred, in most cases due to faulty lubrication.
