Abstract

IN view of a shortage of trained personnel available I to operate a number of small rural power stations in Western Australia, it was decided to fit National PBAE type low‐speed horizontal engines, Fig. 1, as these engines are of a particularly simple design and require but little maintenance in service. As a further precaution, the manufacturers were asked to provide for additional protection equipment to shut down the engine in the event of excessive bearing temperature, and lack of lubricationg oil supply to the piston and liner.
