Abstract

AS THE RESULT OF A CLOSE INVESTIGATION INTO MELTING SHOP MAINTENANCE COSTS, towards the end of 1949, it was found that since the Shop was working a continuous week, i.e. a 168 hour working week, it was practically impossible to ensure adequate crane lubrication service owing to unavailability of the cranes. It was therefore, decided to experiment with fully automatic lubrication equipment on one crane in order to determine what advantages, if any, would be gained.
