Abstract

A PAPER PRESENTED AT THE SAE NATIONAL Fuels and Lubricants Meeting at Tulsa, Oklahoma, in November, by M. W. Savage and L. O. Bowman (both of California Research Corporation) described work done in measuring engine bearing wear by means of radioactive tracer measurements. Lead base babbitt material was employed for the test bearings and these contained uniformly distributed antimony. The bearings were placed in the Atomic Energy Commission reactor at Oak Ridge, where isotope antimony‐124 is produced.
