YALE & TOWNE EXTEND WORKS TO PRODUCE MATERIAL HANDLING EQUIPMENT

Abstract

LAST MONTH, THE YALE & TOWNE MANUfacturing Company opened an extension to its Wednesfield, Staffs, factory. With plants operating in the United States, Canada and Germany, and products manufactured under licence in France, Italy, Spain, Japan and Australia, this company claims to be the world's largest makers of materials handling equipment, and employs over 11,000 people. The new extension at Wednesfield, devoted to materials handling equipment, is the second to this factory since it was built in 1937. Initially it covered about 93,000 sq. ft. and in 1953 a further 24,000 sq. ft. were opened. The recent extension included a further 27.000 sq. ft. making the total area 144,500 sq. ft.
