Abstract

Over recent years the German firm Spillingwerk Maschinenfabrik, of Hamburg, have developed a new and interesting modern “steam motor”, which by an ingenious combination of the principles of steam and diesel engines, is able to reach high speeds without heavy wear and tear of motor parts. It is claimed to be as indestructable and as long‐lived as a steam engine but, at the same time, needs as little attention as a modern diesel engine.
