Abstract

TWO INTERESTING PAPERS dealing with the cold rolling of aluminium alloys were presented at the Autumn Meeting of the Institute of Metals at Bath, September 5th to 9th. The first of these, dealing with the development of cold rolling lubricants for aluminium alloys was given by R. D. Guminski, B.Sc., and J. Willis (both of Aluminium Laboratories Ltd.). These authors stressed the importance of the correct lubricant for this work, since this enables the highest possible reduction per pass to be achieved without detriment of surface finish, and also the correct lubricant can remain in circulation for long periods without deterioration.
