Abstract

Conversions from one unit of viscosity to another at the same temperature, are relatively easy with the aid of tables or above a certain level, by factors. The problem that faces most laboratory workers and petroleum technicians, however, is conversion from one unit at one temperature to a different unit at another temperature and, also, probably from Centigrade to Fahrenheit, e.g., from Redwood at x°F. to Saybolt at y°F. or from Engler at x°C. to Centistokes at y°F. Whilst charts have been marketed to allow these conversions to be done, one usually needs a clear desk, a straight edge, pencils and tables, the accuracy depending on the time spent on the solution and also the thickness of the pencil lead.
