Abstract

IN VIEW of the interest by Universities and and Colleges in Lubrication education and the probable provision for Lubrication to be included in more syllabuses for engineering degrees, there is a need for machines to demonstrate lubrication principles. For example, one of the problems is to demonstrate the generation of pressure by a converging wedge. Full scale apparatus for this purpose are not suitable, they are costly and loads are so high that surfaces distort causing uncertainty about the shape of the oil film.
