Lubricant Test Devices and Their Relation to Service Conditions
Abstract
THE above was the title of the Second International Tribology Conference held at the Paisley College of Technology from the 7th to the 11th September. It was designed to examine the methods of testing lubricants and associated material and to review the problems of interpreting the results on a practical basis. One of the most difficult factors in evaluating lubricants is the assessment of their performance in working conditions without carrying out extensive and prolonged “in service” testing, and the conference organisers emphasised the devising of methods of tests which would help users to select suitable materials.
