Abstract

NEWS of Dick Wakelin's early retirement from the directorship of Leeds Tribology Unit leaked out only through the Department's Newsletter, the Spring number of which was received by us just after our our May/June pressday. He has enjoyed — and that is the word — ten years with the Unit, which has gone from strength to strength under his direction, progress being punctuated to a great extent by ever‐increasing interest in and support of the biennial Tribology Exhibition held at the University. This was very much his baby.
