Abstract

As CEO of Ford Motor Company, which has sales of $44 billion and a planning horizon of 30 years, Phillip Caldwell has learned to distill the crucial characteristics of a good corporate plan. He believes that the paramount virtues of the Ford document should be clarity, unity, brevity, simplicity, and knowledgeability. This interview is edited from a cassette program in a series produced by the Nightingale‐Conant Corporation of Chicago.
