Abstract

The pendulum of importance has swung decisively towards the area of production/operations management. This gives POM faculty an opportunity: it is critical that POM faculty within the UK address themselves to the core issues of the area, help provide direction within educational institutions, orientate research and teaching towards the plant‐based needs of industrial business and capitalise on the favourable and growing opportunities provided by fresh sources for publication, funding and research.
