Pension Funds in the UK — Danger Ahead?
Abstract
Three major sources of danger threaten UK pension rights and/or expectations of scheme members — “pension holidays” or a rebate of contributions by the firm, the winding‐up of a scheme by the sponsoring company and the take‐over of the sponsoring company by a predator. The hazards facing the pension funds which now find themselves with massive actual surpluses are assessed.
