Abstract

Compact disc technology has come to the Southern Oregon State College Library in the form of the OCLC Search CD450 system and its ERIC databases. ERIC on CD‐ROM is a great step forward for a library somewhat behind the times in automated services. While many Oregon State System libraries started providing online searching in the mid 70s, we didn't begin until 1984. So when our library director suggested that we start using compact disc technology, we became rather excited at the opportunity to leap into this brand new area of automation. Librarians, students, and faculty have since grown attached to this new technology for enhancing research.
