Abstract

Since 1970 ergonomics has gone a long way towards tackling the problem of optimising the interaction between people and technology in the working environment. When planning offices or workstations, designers are far more concerned about the office environment and comfort of the office workers. Facilities management (evaluation of the user's response to the environment after installation of a furniture system), VDU glare, privacy, lighting, ventilation, noise, wire management and electrostatics must all be taken into consideration to obtain optimum flexibility and efficiency.
