The rising cost of a diabetic's food
Abstract
Diet is the one common denominator in diabetes, whether by itself or in conjunction with insulin or with oral anti‐diabetic tablets. It is the essential ingredient for the maintenance of control and the leading of a healthy life. It has long been recognised that the cost of the diabetic diet is higher than that for the non‐diabetic, and this has been recognised by an additional Supplementary Allowance payable to those already in receipt of Supplementary Benefits. However, no exact figures have been made available for some years.
