Abstract

THE coal mining industry of this country is not an easy subject for standardisation as the nature of the geological conditions prevailing govern the working techniques adopted in the particular area, colliery, or even in the seam producing the coal. The majority of the work must perforce be carried out underground in surroundings which are very different from those of the factory floor, and this must be borne in mind when the possible use of production efficiency methods is under consideration.
