Your next general manager ‐ Where is he coming from?
Abstract
Industry and commerce are today generally very training conscious. The Industrial Training Act of 1964 was a very useful spur to those who had not previously given much thought to the topic. In the retail and distribution sectors there are many examples of firms with excellent in‐house training schemes or, where the situation docs not permit it, of firms who make full use of outside training resources. In the area of management development and training, one sees good examples of forward planning and clear thinking. However, there are many enterprises who have not considered bridging the vital gap between functional and general management.
