The best guide … useful as a reference source and a social history (Library Journal).

Obtaining information and contact details on foundations, trusts and similar non-profit-making institutions throughout the world has never been easier with the publication of The International Foundation Directory 2000 on 30 June 2000. Now published annually, this new ninth edition provides an essential one-stop guide to the world of foundations.

An introduction by the late H.V. Hodson, a former Provost of the Ditchley Foundation, in which the history of foundations is discussed and an article by Cathy Pharoah of the Charities Aid Foundation "Into the new millennium: issues facing the foundation sectors in the 1990s and 2000s" provide an invaluable background on the origin and definition of foundations.

Over 1,500 foundations are profiled in detail and extensively indexed to present a reliable insight into the complex world of grant funding. Foundations are arranged alphabetically by country. Each entry contains the institution's name, postal, Internet and e-mail addresses, telephone and fax numbers, date of foundation, details of function, activities, finances, publications and key executives where applicable. Two indexes list the foundations by name and by the institution's main area of activity.

Editor, Cathy Hartley, and her editorial team meticulously research and update the information ensuring data are as up-to-date and accurate as we can make them. Each organization is encouraged to update their own entry for each edition. Foundations included range from the Soros Foundations, the Ford Foundation (USA), the Mwalimu Nyerere Foundation (Tanzania) and the European Foundation Centre.

The International Foundation Directory 2000 presents a reference source and social history on a world wide scale in one easy-to-use volume.

The International Foundation Directory 2000 is priced at £120. For information contact Cathy Hartley (Editor). Tel: +44 (0)20 7822 4300; Fax: +44 (0)20 7822 4319 or Alison Weldon (Publicity). Tel: +44 (0)20 7842 2110; Fax: +44 (0)20 7842 2249.
