The Dutch Centre for Educational Innovation (CINOP) plans an Internet-based virtual language centre which will provide a European centre of expertise for foreign-language teachers in vocational-training programmes, and an open-learning centre for people on vocational-training programmes.
There are plans to develop the following materials: interactive web exercises; test and assessment tools; electronic dictionaries and grammar books; links to relevant Web sites; and a simulated office for role play.
Further information is available from Thomas Bersee or Polly Perkins, at CINOP, on 00 31 73 680 0882.
Meanwhile, European "labels" are now awarded annually to the most innovative projects in language learning.
The label scheme aims to stimulate interest in language learning. It is co-ordinated by the European Commission, but managed on a decentralized basis by the member states.
