Netd@ys Europe: Introduction

Netd@ys Europe: Introduction

Netd@ys Europe is a European Commission initiative which aims to raise awareness of the potential use of new media, especially the Internet, in the areas of education and culture. The Netd@ys Europe initiative is funded by the Socrates, Youth, Leonardo da Vinci, Culture 2000 and Media programmes of the Directorate-General Education and Culture of the European Commission.

In this Internet feature we record the range of Netd@ys Europe projects which commenced in 2000. Schools, cultural and youth centres, universities, vocational training centres, museums, businesses, community groups and other organisations are all involved. Through international link-ups, virtual art exhibitions and concerts, cyber reports, video conferences and Web-casts, people will exchange experiences on the four themes of Netd@ys: European cultural identity and diversity, Citizenship, Equal opportunities, and education and training for improving digital literacy.
