100 Netd@ys Europe Stars … Online

The main objectives of this project are to promote the knowledge and acquisition of competencies in ICT, to favour the use and regular integration of ICT in the learning process, to foster transnational co-operation between schools and to add a European dimension to the educational plans of the schools involved. Cultural identity, citizenship and equality of opportunities will be addressed. One or two projects will be established in each of the participating schools, which will be supported by a research centre or by one of the other participating schools.

The main aim is to provide an open learning training scheme on net journalism and a European contest for the best net reporter. Participants will be provided with information on the main features of online journalism (sources and information searches, checks, editing, Web design, etc.) and on the different kinds of online journalism (news, surveys, sport, music, etc.).

Education and training for improving digital literacyThe development and presentation of new training schemes using online media, the creation and exchange of training materials on the Internet, the development of artistic and journalistic skills and the extension of an existing informal network of young Net journalists.

Three videoconferences will be arranged at European level during a training and job fair in Verona. Each videoconference will have a specific theme and the participants will be able to contact experts direct and "virtually". Last year about 46,000 people visited the fair.

CitizenshipThe project will organise activities and produce tools aimed at supporting and increasing transnational mobility and European citizenship by having access to relevant information. The European added value will be the organisation of activities which encourage people to participate in European society.

Education and training for improving digital literacyInnovative approaches will be developed and promoted which will enable student, teachers, youth workers, trainers, etc. to use the new media as tools to learn and teach and to provide information about training and employment opportunities at the national and European levels. The use of videoconferencing will be used as tools for accessing open distance guidance which people can use at low cost.

Promote distance teaching and the use of new technologies

The project aims to spread know-how in distance teaching and to promote the use of new technologies through a specific Web site to which a large number of organisations will supply content. Courses will be offered on many themes and pedagogical models will be provided. Project targets are: teachers and students in European schools; involving university professors in online activity; the European computer driving licence; requalification of workers.

Equal opportunitiesDropouts, disabled and handicapped people will be targeted and it is aimed to raise average cultural levels amongst these and other less favoured groups.

Education and training to improve digital literacyDidactic formats will be improved in co-operation with users and many organisations are expected to supply contents in HTML format to an existing Web site.
