Royal Mail gives graduates the stamp of approval
Royal Mail group has doubled its intake of graduate trainees from 25 to 50 as part of a move to find the right people to help to put the organization back on track for recovery. Allan Leighton, chairman, said: “We are facing the most challenging, but also most exciting period in our history. We are working hard to return the company to profitability, which no one said was going to be easy. We are keen for enthusiastic and energetic graduates ready and willing to take on this challenge”.
Mr Leighton will give personal mentoring to all the graduates who join the scheme.
Successful graduates will be trained in a range of business, management and interpersonal skills, and given an overview of the public face of the operation – delivering mail. They will all go on a placement in each of their three years of training. The placements will be in all areas of the business, from front-line operations to finance, marketing and human resources. All the graduates will take an Open University certificate in management during their first year, and be encouraged and funded to take a professional qualification in their second year. Graduates are accepted to the scheme twice a year.
